Romantic Valentine AW08 Sketch Challenge

I made this card based on a Sketch for the “Around the World Challenge AW08”. If you like my card, you can click on this link and go vote for it!!!

I always like to use Black, Red and Gold to make a romantic Valentine’s Day card.  These colors are so rich together, it’s always a winning combination!

Language of Love

I used the new Stamp set from the Occasions mini-catalogue called “Language of Love” to stamp the hearts in the center. One was embossed with gold embossing powder and the second with Black embossing powder. I then used Cherry Cobbler ink and sponge it to on the second heart to make it really stand out!  I also used the Banner Blast stamp set (that you can get for free as one of the Sale-a-Bration set, starting January 28) and the “Hearts a Flutter” stamp set for the smaller pennant at the bottom, also embossed with gold embossing powder.

Do you like the new Gold Sequin? You can buy it as a trim to add some “bling” to your projects!  It’s on p.23 of the mini-catalogue. (Item #132983). You get 10 yards for $6.50.  You can also take the sequin off the trim and glue them separately like I did on this card. Really cool new accessory!

Here’s the Language of Love stamp set: to order it click here!

Fast and Easy Valentine’s Day Treat

I made those for my “January” customers as a little thank you.  You could make one for your co-workers, classmates, family, etc!  With the Big Shot, it’s so easy and fast to do! I took the “Top Note” Bigz die to make the top part, fold it in half and stamped a few hearts with Hearts a Flutters stamp set, in Pink Pirouette and Rose Red.  Then I stamped the bigger stamp and I used the Hearts a Flutter Framelits to cut the big scallop heart. Fill you little cello bag with your favorite treat, staple the “Top Note” at the top and adhere the bigger heart with dimensionals. Voilà!

Valentine’s Day Craft for children

This is a cute Valentine craft to do with children, that I presented at my latest workshop for daycare providers.  It’s a Valentine butterfly on a clothepin!

I used the Big SHot and Hearts Collection Framelits to cut the hearts, but you can trace your own template and let the children cut the hearts if you don’t have a Big Shot.

Instruction:

1. Trace your clothespin on a piece of Designer series paper. Cut 2 rectangles and glue them on each side of the clothespin, with multipurpose liquid glue.

2. Cut 2 big hearts in Real Red card stock using the Big Shot and the Heart Framelits. Stamp each heart with  “hearts” stamps (I used “Hearts a flutter” stamp set.) with Real Red and Cherry Cobbler ink.

3. Cut 2 medium hearts in Vellum paper using the Big Shot and the Heart Framelits. Emboss each heart with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.

4. Cut a small heart in Real Red card stock using the Big Shot and the Heart Framelits. With a Black marker, trace a smile and two eyes.

5. Glue your 2 red hearts together overlapping just a little bit the “pointed part”. Glue the Vellum hearts on top (just on the center). Glue your hearts on the back of the clothespin. Glue the face on top.

6. To make the antennas, cut a narrow strip of Black card stock, fold in half, curl the 2 ends and glue behind the head.
