Artisan Award Entry #5: Pop-up Pinwheel card

Welcome to Day 5!  Today’s card was probably the most complicated of the five cards I made for the Artisan Award Contest.  It’s a pop-up card or a 2-steps card.  I just made my own template (basically trial and error).  I wanted that the pinwheels stand-up when you open the card and that was a real challenge!  Some were falling down, so I ended up putting little paper brackets at the back so they couldn’t fall.  I wished I had taken some pictures from the side so you could see better how it’s made, but I guess I didn’t think about it… Since I don’t have the card anymore, it’s now too late. The challenge was that nothing sitck out the card when it’s closed.  (Seem kind of obvious, but when you fold the card, everything shift up, so it’s trickier than you think!)

I used the Sizzlit Pinwheel die (from last year mini-catalogue) and make 6 of them.  I used different buttons and brads to attach them in the center.   The super colorful Designer Paper ” Sunshine & Sprinkles” (now retired) inspired me this card.

Sale-a-bration set Petite Pretties: a two for one!

I’ve been so busy lately with my classes and workshops that I couldn’t post any cards. But today’s a 2 for 1! You get 2 cards in one day!!!

The Sale-a-bration set “Petite Pretties” is so cute and it’s made to match the Sale-a-bration punch “Petite Curly Label”! They are two of my favorite items!!!  I used both in the two cards I made for you today.  It’s not too late to get these 2 items for free! Email me your order before March 22!!!

The first card uses the new Honeycomb embossing folder and the Sycamore Designer Series paper (you can get this free too as a Sale-a-bration item!!!).  Here’s a little trick I learned for cutting your hexagons to go inside the “honeycomb”. Run a piece of DSP through the Big Shot with the Honeycomb embossing folder and then, follow the embossed lines to cut the hexagons.  You will be sure it fits just right!!!

I used the Curly Label punch to frame my Petite Curly Label and used the Essential Piercing pack to make the little holes all around for a nice finishing touch.

For the second one, I layered the Petite Curly Label on top of the Postage Stamp punch and added a little flower from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch pack, with a rhinestone to complete it. I took the colors from the Sycamore DSP: Summer Starfruit, Tangerine Tango and Island Indigo.

Feeling Sentimental meets Petite Pretties!

First, I wasn’t sure what to do with this phone booth stamp from the Sale-a-bration set “Feeling Sentimental”… And then I saw the “hello” stamp from the set “Petite Pretties” (also a SAB set that you can earn for free!) and it clicked!!! So here’s the card I created:

Feeling Sentimental phone

A few tricks and tips:

I colored the phone booth with the Blender pen and Real Red ink and sponged some Bashful blue in the background.  The Petite Pretties stamps coordinate with the Petite Curly punch (also a SAB item you can get for free with a $60 order). I stamped the “hello” on Whisper White card stock and used the Petite Curly punch to cut them out. It’s much easier to space evenly on your card, than trying to stamp directly on your card. For the “{ }” stamp, it’s also from the Petite Pretties set, but it’s not long enough to stamp “thinking of you” inside the brakets. So I used the Black Stampin’ Marker and color only one “{“. I stamped it twice, one on each side of the “thinking of you”. (Just turn your stamp over since it’s symmetrical!)

The designer series paper is from the  Holiday mini-catalogue “Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack”. I thought the zigzag line looked like a phone cord!

Here’s the Feeling Sentimental set. Email me of you want to earn it free!!!

Sale-a-bration preview: Petite Pretties Birthday Card

For today’s card, I used the same set as yesterday, “Petite Pretties”, from the Sale-a-bration brochure, but just different stamps… This set has 8 stamps that all coordinate with the Sale-a-bration “Petite Curly Label” punch. You can get both for free, starting next Tuesday!!!  (with a minimum order).

I also used the “Patterned Party” set for the balloons. I colored each balloon with the 2012-2014 In-color Stampin’markers.

Sale-a-Bration preview continues! Petite Pretties Valentine card

This year, as part of the Sale-a-bration free items, you can get a punch!  That’s awesome!  The “Petite Curly Label punch” also coordinates with the “Petite Pretties” stamp set, also available for free when you spend $60 on any product you want!!! I made this Valentine’s Day card using both products.  The little hearts were cut with the owl punch in Real Red glimmer paper.  The word “LOVE” is from the set Itty Bitty Banner.  (This is one of the “regular catalogue set” also available for free during the SAB!) The stamp says “I LOVE YOU” but I just used the Stampin’ Marker to color the word “LOVE” to make it fit inside the “Petite Pretties” stamp.

The combination of Real Red, Basic Black and Whisper White always makes a Valentine’s Day feel “pretty sexy”, don’t you think?
