Another Butterfly Basics Card

Today’s card is another card that I made with the Beautiful “Butterfly Basics” stamp set. This is a card I made a while ago, since it was for Mother’s Day! But since you could adapt it for any other occasion, I thought I would share it with you today!

I wanted to make a really sophisticated and vintage look for my card, so I used the beautiful Gold foil sheet to cut off the Butterfly (with the Butterflies Thinlits). I also heat embossed the greeting with gold embossing powder.  In the background, I stamped the images with Baked Brown Sugar. I added some Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz ink with the blender pen to the flower. I also used the ink splatters from the “Gorgeous Grunge” stamp set.

The Venitian Crochet Trim and Gold metallic button were the perfect accessories to complete the card!

Fun Flowers Bigz L die Perfect for Mother’s Day crafts!

Mother’s Day being in less than 3 days, here’s a last minute craft to make with your children!  I used the “Fun Flowers Bigz L die for all of these crafts. It’s a very good one to have, especially if you want to make easy children’s crafts! The flowers Bigz L die will be retiring soon… If you want to make the following crafts, make sure to buy the die before May 31, 2014!

Here’s the Fun Flowers Bigz L die: #121812 Click here to order it today!

Fun Flowers die

pot de fleurs (2)

The first craft is a flower vase. To create the vase, I used an empty can of soup that I covered with wool. The trick to hold your wool is to use double sided-tape on the can. I used a strip at the top and bottom to make sure that the ends would be secure in place. I also put some strips of double-sided tape along the can (vertically) to hold the wool in place. (I used about 4 strips around the can.)

To make the flowers, I simply cut colored card stock with the Fun Flowers Bigz L die and stack the different flowers with dimensionals in between layers to add some dimension. I used a straw to make the stem.

The “Fringe flower” was made with our new Fringe scissors! So easy to use! Start with a strip of about 1-1/2″ to 2″ and about 22″ long (so glue two strips of 11″ together). Cut along the bottom edge with the Fringe scissors. Be careful to leave about 1/4″ at the top so your fringes are all still attached together! Then, attach a straw at one end with scotch tape and start rolling! I found it helps if you put a little bit of Multipurpose liquid glue along the bottom edge. Secure the end with Multipurpose liquid glue. Let dry a minute or two. Then push on the fringes to make your flower “fluffy”!

I also did this perfect craft for children with 2 paper plates and the Fun Flowers Bigz L die to cut the flowers. Add some buttons and a little bow and you have a nice flower basket for your Mom!

Assiette en fleurs

The last craft is a magnet. What I love about those Bigz dies, is that you can cut fun foam and felt with you Big Shot! So it’s very simple to put together! Use double sided tape to adhere your magnet at the back. Some magnets come in a roll with a self adhesive back, so that could also be a good thing to use.

The flower on the left is made with Fun foam and the one on the right is made with felt. Happy crafting!

Mother’s Day Card for children

Here’s a perfect Mother’s Day Card for your children to make! Do you see what was used to make the tree? If you guessed by tracing the child’s hand, you’re right!!! Children can used their own hand to trace the tree! How awesome is that!

I then embossed it with the Woodgrain folder for added texture.  I used the Boho Blossom punch to cut flowers and you can use the “Little Leaves” Sizzlits die to add some leaves to your tree.  You can add some “flower centers” with some crumpled tissue paper.  I cut a small heart with the smallest Heart Framelits and add it to the trunk. I used a full 8-1/2″ x 11″ inches, fold in half to make the card.

This one is my daughter’s creation (under my supervision) as she was trying out my craft for my lastest Daycare Providers Workshop.

Secret Garden Mother’s Day Card

If you need some ideas for a Mother’s Day card, go with “Secret Garden” stamp set. You can’t go wrong!  Here’s one card that we will do at my next Monthly Card Class (on April 26).  I used the designer paper from the Print Poetry Paper Stack (available in the Occasion mini-catalogue.) With 48 sheets (4 1/2″ x 6 1/2″) of coordinating colors, for $8.50, that is a “must buy”!!!

The flower was stamped twice and cut with the Secret Garden framelits, then sponged around the edges.  The little dahlias flower really adds a nice touch!

Iris folding Mother’s Day card

I recently had a class on Iris Folding and here’s a card that we made, for Mother’s Day.

I used the Blossom punch to cut the flower which makes that step much easier than cutting out a flower with an x-acto.  I used the flower that was just cut off and sponged it with real red.  I used the Boho Blossom punch to make the flower center and a brad form the Sale-a-bration set.  To make the iris folding flower, I used nice Designer Series Paper from the Paper Stack collection, from Pocketful of Poisies and from a retired set.  The flower center was stamped with the little flower in the “Baroque Motifs” stamp set.  To make the leaves, I used the Blossom Petal Builder punch.  I fold them in half and run throught the crimper.  I really like making my leaves like that since it adds a lot of dimension!

Stamp set: Voeux Mignons, Baroque Motifs

CS and paper: Natural white CS, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Patterned Designer Series Paper Stack (Brights), Pocketful of Posies DSP (#122354)

Ink: Real red

Punches and tools: Blossom punch (#125603), Blossom Petal Builder punch (#121808), Boho Blossoms (#119858), Word Window (#119857), crimper.

Mother’s Day card with Framelits and Edgelits

Mother’s Day is just around the corner, so here’s a card I just made with the new Edgelits, Framelits and the matching stamp set called Apothecary Art (Art Floral for the French one).  All of these things can be found in the Occasion mini-catalogue.  Get them fast because the mini catalogue expires at the end of April!

To make the card, I stamped in Old Olive the flowers.  Than I used the Watercolor Wonder crayons and blender pen to add some colors and I added some mini pearls for the finishing touch.  I used the Edgelits to cut a nice border.  Don’t you find it looks just like lace?  To make it happen, just cut once with the edgelit as normal, than, reverse the edgelit so it’s facing the first cut and off-center it.  (If you need a picture to see how it’s made, let me know…)

Stamp set: Voeux mignons, Apothecary Art (#125525)
