Penguin Name Card for the Holiday Table

I made this cute penguin as a “name card” for each person for my Holiday Table.  It can stand up, holding a candy cane or lay flat as a card.  That’s the idea: when guests will arrive, all the little penguins will be standing up at each place around the table, holding a little treat… After everyone sit, they can take the penguin and lay it flat as it becomes a Chirstmas card with a little personal note for everyone inside!

Standing up:

Laying flat:

To make the body, I used the Top Note Bigz die, in Whisper White, over a Basic Black card stock.  I loved the new Mittens punch, so I really wanted to use it!!

To cut the hat and the wings, I used the Ornaments framelits collection. (See picture below.) When I attached the “wings”, I only glue them at the top, so that you can lift them and insert the candy cane.  (The mittens are glued on the wings themself but not on the “body”. The mittens are attached to the Decorative Label the same way, and not to the body.)

I used the Simply Scored Scoring tool to mark around my hat and for the mitten cuff. It makes it more “real”…

Now, to make it stand, I used an “easel card” model.  I cut a sheet of Bashful Blue card stock in half lengthwise (4-1/4″ x 11″). Then I scored it at 2-3/4″ and 5-1/2″.

You want to adhere the “penguin” on the right hand side of the card only, so that you can flip it to make it stand up:

Ink: Real Red, Real Red Stampin’ marker

CS and paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Gumball Green, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Bashful Blue

Accordion “TreeMendous” card

I’m working on some projects that children could do and I came up with this cute Christmas card.  I got the idea from a book called “Pop-up cards” from Sandi Genovese and I modified it for this project…

The outside is quite simple. I used the Top Note Bigz die to cut the front in Bashful Blue card stock.   I embossed it with the Perfect Polka dots folder.  I added a strip of Whisper White card stock that I tore to make a “rough edge”. I cut it with Top Note and glued in place over the blue one.  The tree and the star were cut using the Holiday Collection Framelits dies. I embossed the tree with the Fancy Fan folder and I added some dazzling diamonds.  I added dazzling diamonds on the star and the “snow” edge.  The greeting is from the “Greeting of the Season” set.  I added a Gumball Green Stitched Satin ribbon to tie a bow and keep the card closed.

The inside is even more interesting with all the Christmas trees standing up! I stamped the trees with a stamp from “Scentsational Season” in Gumball Green and added Cherry Cobbler Dazzling details. Then I glued the trees on the accordion…

To make the accordion card, I cut a 12″ x 12″  Real Red sheet down to 5-1/2″ by 12″.  Then using the Simply scored scoring tool I scored at 4″ and 8″.  Then scored every 1/2″ in between these 2 lines. I made this template with My Digital Studio…

Material used:

Stamp set: Greeting of the Season (#128030W or #128033C), Scentsational Season (#121026 W or #121290 C)

CS and paper: Real Red, Bashful Blue, Gumball Green, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight

Ink: Real Red, Gumball Green

Tools: Big Shot, Top Note Bigz die, Holiday Collection Framelits dies, Fancy Fan and Perfect Polka dots embossing folders, Simply Scored Scoring tool.

Accessories: Gumball Green Stitched Satin ribbon, Dazzling diamonds, Dazzling Details Cherry Cobbler.

Iris Folding for Chirstmas: Christmas Tree with the Holiday Framelits

Are you interested in learning the Iris Folding technique? Then I invite you to register to my upcoming “Iris Folding for Christmas” class on November 13!!! Email me if you’d like to register.  Details are on the “Upcoming class” page.

With the use of the Holiday Collection Framelits dies, it’s now even easier to do the Iris folding technique!  I made up this card using the tree in the Holiday Collection Framelits and I created a pattern for the iris folding.  (You’ll get this pattern and many others at the class).  I used the Old Olive Designer Series Paper stack as my Iris folding paper.  I also added some Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details to make the “tree ornaments”.  A little sparkly touch is always nice!!! In the backfroung, I used the Be of Good Cheer designer series paper. The greeting is from “Voeux Mignons”.

Stamp set: Voeux Mignons

CS and paper: Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, Be of Good Cheer Designer series paper, Old Olive Designer Series Paper stack.

Ink: Cherry Cobbler

Tools and punch: Big Shot and Holiday Collection Framelits Dies, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. Modern Label punch.

Accessories: Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details, star sequin (Not Stampin’up).

What to do with your FREE Stitched Satin ribbon???

Have you seen that Stampin’up is offering a FREE spool of Stitched Satin ribbon with every $50 order? I want to give you some ideas of how to use this free ribbon!!! I made two cards that are a bit similar and both use the Gumball Green Stitched Ribbon in 2 different ways… I used the Holiday Collection Framelits dies for both cards.

For the first one, I used the ribbon to create a border on my card.  The best way to adhere your ribbon on the card is the Snail adhesive.  It sticks very well and it doesn’t show through.  For that card, I stamped the tree with the stamp from the Scentsational Season set. I embossed it with the Fancy Fan folder to give some texture and added some Dazzling Diamond glitters on the star and the tree.  The greeting is from Word Play. I used the Stampin’ Markers to color it so I would have more than one color on it.

Material used:

Stamp set: Word Play

CS and paper: Gumball Green, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight.

Ink: Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple and Gumball Green Stampin’ Markers

Tools and punches: 2-1/2 in Circle punch, 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle, Big Shot, Holiday Collection Framelits dies, Fancy Fan embossing folder.

Accessories: Gumball Green 3/8″ Stitched Satin, sponge, Dazzling Diamond Glitters

For the second one, I used the Tree Framelit (from the Holiday Collection) to cut out the tree and then I used the ribbon to fill the “space” and create the branches.  To adhere my ribbon, I used the snail adhesive all around the outside edges of the tree, on the back of my paper. The ribbon adds a really nice finish to this card! I cut the star in Champagne Glimmer paper (love that paper!) with the star framelit (also in the Holiday Collection Framelits). I used the Label Collection framelits dies to cut the shape around the tree.  I added a little border made with the Polka Dot Parade DSP and the greeting is from a set in the Holiday mini-catalogue called Voeux Indémodables.

Material used:

Stamp set: Voeux Indemodable

CS and paper: Gumball Green, Real Red, Perfect Polka Parade DSP, Whisper White, Early Espresso, Champagne Glimmer paper.

Ink: Real Red

Tools and punches: Extra-Large Oval, Big Shot, Label Collection Framelits dies, Holiday Collection Framelits dies, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.

Accessories: Gumball Green 3/8″ Stitched Satin
