A special Card in a box for a 60th anniversary

Happy Canada Day! I have 2 posts for you today!  Here’s the first one…

My aunt celebrated her 60th birthday and I wanted to give her an extra special card, so I made her a “Card in a Box”. I used the new “Pretty Petals DSP stack” which have beautiful designs, for the background!  For the inside of the “box”, I used the Pansy punch and Flower Shop stamp set and the Petite Petal punch and stamp set.  The butterfly is from Papillon Potpourri which also has a coordinated punch.

I also added the number “60” (cut with an older die and Big Shot),and I used Silver Foil sheet for an elegant look!

Papillon Potpourri Squares

Today’s card is one of my favorite new color combination: Blackberry Bliss, Crush Curry and Sahara Sand! I used the Moonlight Designer Series paper (DSP) stack that have many papers with this color combo. Therefore, it’s so easy to put together! The background is made with Sahara Sand card stock, embossed with the Woodgrain folder. I cut an opening with the Square Framelits collection to create the window. Then, I cut 4 squares with the 1″ Square punch in the Moonlight DSP and glued them in place. The butterfly from Papillon Potpourri set is stamped with Crush Curry ink on Crush Curry card stock and cut with the Elegant Butterfly punch.

The greeting is from “A Dozen Thoughts” and I used the Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits dies to cut the banner.

Today’s the last day to take advantage of the free shipping! So place your order today!!! Click here to shop now!

My card today is made with the beautiful stamp “Swallowtail”. That’s a huge stamp but it’s so nice and elegant!!!  I heat embossed the butterfly with White embossing powder and then I used sponge daubers and Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloup, Crush Curry and Daffodil Delight ink to color it. I used Natural White card stock in the background (I really like to look of that card stock!) stamped with little butterflies from “Papillon Popourri” stamp set with Pink Pirouette ink. It’s really subtle and that’s the look I was going for.  The small butterfly was stamped with White ink on Vellum and then colored at the back with markers. By using this technique, the colors appear less “bright”. I used the matching punch “Bitty Butterfly” to cut it.  It is raised with a dimensional.

Vintage Verse Sale-a-bration set meets Bloomin’ Marvelous

For today’s card, I used 2 Sale-a-bration sets: Vintage Verse (There’s only one you) and Bloomin’ Marvelous (the Turquoise butterfly).  The other butterfly is from the “Papillon Potpourri” set, that I really like too! You can now get the smaller butterfly punch that coordinate with both the Papillon Potpourri and Bloomin’ Marvelous. (It’s called “Bitty Butterfly”.) I wanted to make the butterfly really stand out, to go with the greeting “There’s only one you”.  I stamped it in Midnight Muse ink and colored it with the Markers. It’s raised with a dimensional to make it “pop” even more.  In the background, I used the new Honeycomb embossing folder.

Pink Butterfly and Stitched Satin ribbon

Are you ready for another 2-layer card?  I think I’m starting to be addicted to this challenge!!!  I used the “Papillon Potpourri” stamp set to make this card.  I wanted to make one butterfly really “pop” so I stamped it with StazOn black ink and colored it with markers and with the blender pen. I then added Crystal Effect over.  It is really coming out of the page now!  Too bad the picture really can’t capture the effect!!!  I also used the FREE Stitched Satin ribbon in Primerose Petals.  Have you got your free ribbon yet?  There’s only 3 days left! Don’t miss it! Email me your order today!!!

For the background, I stamped as many butterflies I could in Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink and Regal Rose.  I also added some ink spatters (in Pretty in Pink) with the Color Spritzer Tool.  (I’m starteing to be addicted to this new cool gadget too!!!)  I used the Paper Piercer tool to make a dotted line to show that the butterfly was flying.  Maybe not the best I’ve ever done but it still looks OK…

My husband said that the butterfly looks like a “real 3D sticker” from the store.  I said “No, I did it myself!!!” and he replied “this is a good thing, you know…”

Stamp set: Papillon Potpourri (#123757W or 123759 C), Word Play (#120308W or 120651C)

CS and paper: Natural White, Primerose Petals,

Ink: Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Primrose Petals, StazOn black ink; Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight Stampin’ markers

Others: Crystal Effect, Primrose Stitched Satin ribbon, Paper Piercing tool, Color Spritzer tool.

Mixed Bunch and Papillon Potpourri “Step-up” version

So yesterday I told you I would do some “upgrades” on the same card…  Look carefully at the new card and compare it to the picture from yesterday.  It’s almost like a “Find the error” type of game!!!  Can you spot the differences? (There’s quite a few!)

First I used the Apothecary Framelits to cut the white piece at the back. I used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack to punch the holes on the border.  So easy to use since you already have the template made for you!!! For the flower, I made it pretty much the same as yesterday (check yesterday’s post for the technique) but I added some Dazzling Diamonds to add a little sparkle!  I ran the leaves throught the crimper to add some texture.  (I’m still sad that the crimper is now retired!!!)

For the butterfly, I stamped it on Daffodil Delight card stock (instead of Pumpkin Pie) with Early Espresso ink. I used the blender pen to color it with Pumpkin Pie, Calypso Coral and Early Espresso. It looks more real this way. I like it way better!!!

The background is also different, I stamped little flowers in Daffodil Delight and embossed it with the Fancy Fan folder.  I changed the Large Oval greeting for a little “pennant” shape and added a Calypso Coral Organza ribbon to complete the card makeover!

Here’s a close-up of the butterfly:
