The Butterfly punch is one of my favorite!  Get it this week on sale for only $16.46!

Did you know that you could use the Butterfly punch to make leaves?  Click here to find out how!

Here’s a card for you today, where I used it, combined with the smaller Butterfly punch. This card was inspired by Joanne Press.  I also used the Epic Day This and That Washi tape for a quick background. The Gorgeous Grunge splatters stamp was also quite useful here!

More Simply Pressed Clay roses

Did you know that if you add Crystal Effect on your dried clay flowers, they become really shiny and they will look like they are made of ceramic or plastic! (but without the weight!) For this card, I made the flowers with white Simply Pressed Clay and colored them after with markers. (Use the blender pen to acheive some nuances in color.)  Then I added a layer of Crystal Effect and let them dry.  To make the leaves, I used the Elegant Butterfly punch and cut off the larger wings. I also used the Bitty Butterfly punch for the small leaves. (See picture below for the “trick” how to cut them.)

Mixed Bunch and Papillon Potpourri “Step-up” version

So yesterday I told you I would do some “upgrades” on the same card…  Look carefully at the new card and compare it to the picture from yesterday.  It’s almost like a “Find the error” type of game!!!  Can you spot the differences? (There’s quite a few!)

First I used the Apothecary Framelits to cut the white piece at the back. I used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack to punch the holes on the border.  So easy to use since you already have the template made for you!!! For the flower, I made it pretty much the same as yesterday (check yesterday’s post for the technique) but I added some Dazzling Diamonds to add a little sparkle!  I ran the leaves throught the crimper to add some texture.  (I’m still sad that the crimper is now retired!!!)

For the butterfly, I stamped it on Daffodil Delight card stock (instead of Pumpkin Pie) with Early Espresso ink. I used the blender pen to color it with Pumpkin Pie, Calypso Coral and Early Espresso. It looks more real this way. I like it way better!!!

The background is also different, I stamped little flowers in Daffodil Delight and embossed it with the Fancy Fan folder.  I changed the Large Oval greeting for a little “pennant” shape and added a Calypso Coral Organza ribbon to complete the card makeover!

Here’s a close-up of the butterfly:

Papillon Potpourri and Vellum

I wanted to try to stamp the beautiful butterflies from the “Papillon Potpourri” stamp set on Vellum to see if it would look nice.  I think it does!!! The picture is probably not giving justice to the real one but at least gives an idea!  I wanted to give the illusion that the butterflies were escaping from the frame.  What do you think? The greeting from “Word Play” stamp set seamed totally appropriate!

To make this card, I first stamped the butterfly with White Craft ink on Vellum card stock.  I let it dry a little and turned it over. Then with the stylus, I outlined all the little flowers.  I used the Elegant butterfly punch and cut one in Midnight Muse card stock.  I put it under the vellum to make the “white” stand out more.  Then I used the Designer Frame embossing folder to do the frame. I cut the inside of the frame with an X-acto knife and put the Vellum and the Midnight Muse butterfly underneath.  I stamped 2 more butterflies on vellum with Midnight Muse and the same on White card stock. I superimposed both and fold the vellum wings a little bit to add dimension.

New Stamp set: Papillon Potpourri

I just fell in love with this new stamp set: Papillon Potpourri!  The best part is that it’s really affordable at $17.95 (plus taxes and shipping) for the clear stamp set and $22.95 for the wood stamp set.  It even coordinates with the Elegant Butterfly Punch (#127526).  I’m positive I will use this set a lot in the future!!!

Here’s the set: Papillon Potpourri (#123757 W, #123759 C)

I made two similar cards, with different color schemes.  I also used the new Fancy Fan embossing folder which is my new favorite! The first card combines some of the new “In-Color 2012-2014” and the “In-Color 2011-2013”.
