Sale-a-Bration “Feeling Sentimental” Card

Today’s card is made with the Sale-a-bration stamp set “Feeling Sentimental”. The neutral tone that I used is great for a masculine card.  The colors used were Early Espresso, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla.  You can see in the background, on the Crumb Cake card stock that I used the Color Spritzer Tool to make some ink spatters.  I also used Crumb Cake ink on the Very Vanilla card stock to age the paper… The new Natural 7/16″ Trim ribbon (from the mini-catalogue on p.20) is awesome and coordinate perfectly with the style!  I also used a Vintage brad (I love those brads!)

Pink Butterfly and Stitched Satin ribbon

Are you ready for another 2-layer card?  I think I’m starting to be addicted to this challenge!!!  I used the “Papillon Potpourri” stamp set to make this card.  I wanted to make one butterfly really “pop” so I stamped it with StazOn black ink and colored it with markers and with the blender pen. I then added Crystal Effect over.  It is really coming out of the page now!  Too bad the picture really can’t capture the effect!!!  I also used the FREE Stitched Satin ribbon in Primerose Petals.  Have you got your free ribbon yet?  There’s only 3 days left! Don’t miss it! Email me your order today!!!

For the background, I stamped as many butterflies I could in Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink and Regal Rose.  I also added some ink spatters (in Pretty in Pink) with the Color Spritzer Tool.  (I’m starteing to be addicted to this new cool gadget too!!!)  I used the Paper Piercer tool to make a dotted line to show that the butterfly was flying.  Maybe not the best I’ve ever done but it still looks OK…

My husband said that the butterfly looks like a “real 3D sticker” from the store.  I said “No, I did it myself!!!” and he replied “this is a good thing, you know…”

Autumn Accents: 2-layer Thank You Card

I just received the new Autumn Accent Bigz die and I was so excited to try it! I wanted to make a truly “Autumn” card, that would be perfect for Thanksgiving.  Even since I was a little girl, I always loved the changing color leaves and I would pick the nicest ones and put them to dry in the dictionnary. (Yes, there’s still one or two laying there in that big book!)  Today, I wanted to create my own maple leaf, one that wouldn’t fade with time… I think it turned out pretty good.  Let me know if you like it!

This is the new Autumn Accent Bigz die (#127812):

This card is also a 2 layer card, so it’s perfect for this month’s SoShelli Creative Challenge!!!  The card base is Natural Ivory and I sponged leaves all over in Lucky Limeade, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Calypso Coral.  A real symphony of colors!!!  I also used the Color Spritzer tool with Soft Suede and Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ markers to add some spatters.  I heat embossed “Thanks a million” in Gold embossing powder to make it “pop” even more.

To make the maple leaf, I started with Daffodil Delight card stock, cut with the Autumn Accent Bigz die.  I used the scoring tool and the Stamping Pierce mat to create the veins. I sponged the borders in Soft Suede and the inside with Lucky Limeade, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Real Red.  Then, I used the Color Sprintzer tool with Soft Suede Stampin’ marker. (The color Spritzer tool adds small ink spatters.)  To finish, I sprayed my leaf with a mix of rubbing alcohol and shimmer paint. It makes it really shiny (not that much on the picture though…) I crumbled the leaf and let it dry a few minutes.  I finished the card with a Scallop Tulle ribbon and a Baker’s Twine bow.  Note that I made the stem a bit longer by adding a little piece of Daffodil Delight card stock also sponged. The bow on top hides where the two parts meet.

2-layer card: The Open Sea

This month’s SoShelli Creative Challenge is to create a simple 2-layer card.  You think that’s easy?  Not as much as it seems!!!  Anyway, that’s the card I came up with.  I used The Open Sea stamp set to create this masculine card.  I  first stamped the sailboat in Soft Suede on Natural White paper and the others image with Crumb Cake ink. I then embossed the Oval frame around the sailboat using the Designer Frame folder.   Then I distressed and ripped the edges to make it look “old” and I sponged the borders and the oval frame with Crumb cake ink.  I also used the Color Spritzer tool with the Crumb cake and Soft Suede Stampin’ markers to create the spattered look.  This tool is so much fun!  I love it!!! It actually blows air on the tip of the markers and makes small dots of ink… Kind of using the old trick with the toothbrush but A LOT less messy!!!  For only $16.95, it’s really worth it!!! (Just email me of you are interested!!!)

I added a little bashful blue ink (with a sponge) in the sky between the boat and in the earth (in WORLD).  The greeting is from Word Play and is stamped in Early Espresso.  I finished the card with some Baker’s twine wrapped around.

Stamp set: The Open Sea, Word Play

Ink: Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Bashful Blue, Soft Suede and Crumb Cake Stampin’ markers
