Butterfly Week: Day 4: Iris Folding Butterfly

Today’s card is a very special one! I used the Bold Butterfly Framelits to cut the butterfly and I filled the inside with an Iris Folding pattern that I created.  I used the new “Cotton Paper Assortment” which is a lightweight but sturdy paper.  Perfect for iris folding or even origami! It comes in 4 colors: Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Watercolor Wonder and Cucumber Crush.

For my background, I used the Brick Wall embossing folder that I sponged with Cajun Craze and Soft Suede. This embossing folder is my new favorite!  The embossed lines are great to pick up the ink, so the brick outlines are darker with no work! I completed the card with some leaves made with the Bird Builder punch and some tiny flowers.

I’ve been working on this Paper Frame lately. I wanted to do a Christmas theme frame and I think I succeeded! Cardinal Noel Frame-001

The bird is made with the “Iris Folding Technique”.  I used the Ornamental Pine stamp set for the pine in the background. The Poinsettia is a retired stamp from last year that I stamped multiple time to layer it and give dimension. I embossed the branch with the Woodgrain embossing folder to give texture.

Iris Folding Square with Winter Frost Designer series paper

Today I have an Iris Folding card that I made with the beautiful papers of the Winter Frost series.  I used a Snowflake stamp from Snowflake Soiree (#127922 Wood or127925 Clear) to stamp in the center of the iris design.  The greeting is from “Greetings of the Season”(# 128030 Wood or 128033 Clear).  These two sets are still available to order even though they are not shown in the new Holiday mini-catalogue.)

I used the Square framelits to cut the square and it makes it so much easier than using an X-acto knife!

I’ll be teaching Iris Folding in various libraries of the Ottawa region (Ontario) this Fall.  If you are interested, you can register directly on the library website. Follow this link.

Two Iris Folding cards: Modern Medley vs Epic Day This and That

Today’s my Iris Folding class!  This is a paper technique that I’m very passionate about!

Today, I’m showing you two very similar cards, but I used different Designer Series Papers on each: Modern Medley and Epic Day This and That.  The look is very different but I like both!  Which one is your favorite? I used the new “Candy dots” for my flower center. They are so fun to use! (and they are self-adhesive, so even better!) The greeting is from a new Hostess set called Exprimez-vous. Love it!

Iris Folding ornament revisited

I kind of copied myself for this card.  Since some of the material I used to make it last year is now retired, I wanted to re-create a “current” version of it!   (If you want to see the other one and the iris folding pattern, click here. ) This is how it turned out:

I used the Fir tree stamp from the “Lovely as a Tree” set to make the “branches” at the top.  I cut the ornament with the 2-1/2″ Circle punch and then did the iris folding circle.  For the middle, I stamped a little flower from “Mixed Bunch” set in Real Red and added a small rhinestone.  I made the ornament “top part” (no idea how it’s called!) in Silver glitter paper, glued it in place and added a little bow with a glue dot. I drew a line (for the “hook”) with the Basic Gray marker.

Material:

Stamps: Voeux Mignons, Lovely as a tree, Mixed Bunch

CS and paper: Real Red, Whisper White, Designer Serires paper stacks (Bright Collection), Silver glitter paper

Ink: Real Red, Old Olive, Basic Gray Stampin’ marker.

Tools: 2-1/2″ Circle punch, Large Oval punch,

Others: Rhinestone, Red Satin ribbon
