Birthday Cake with Faux Frosting

This is a card we made at my last Team meeting and I thing it’s a pretty cool technique so I decided to share it with you, although this card is not my design… The stamp set we used is from the Occasion Mini-catalogue (p.33) and the Designer paper is called “Sweet Shop” (check it out on the same page!) It’s super nice and some page are even embossed!

To make this “Faux Frosting”, you need some Multipurpose liquid glue (#110755) p.206 in the main catalogue. (By the way, if you don’t have this glue, it’s really a must!  I use it all the time! and it’s much better than the “regular” white glue we used as kids…) You also need white embossing powder and dazzling diamonds glitters, and your heat tool.  Here’s how to do it:

1. Pour some Multipurpose liquid glue where you want your “frosting”.  Sprinkle with a mix of dazzling diamond and white embossing powder. (We used our fingers to take a “pinch” of the mixture and gently sprinkle right on top of the glue.)

2. With the heat gun, heat your “frosting” until it starts bubbling.

3. Let cool completely before touching (may take 1-2 hours…)

To complete the card, we use a big pearl (those are new, in the mini-catalogue p.26) colored with a red Sharpie marker, to make the cherry.  When I got back home, I decided to had a brown “cupcake paper”. I just cut a piece of “Chocolate Chip” card stock and ran it through the crimper and glue it in place. The little heart was cut from Calypso Coral card stock with the new Embosslits die “Fashionable Hearts”.
