Make and Take from the Abbotsford Stampin’up Conference

I had the pleasure to be chosen by Stampin’up Canada to be the designer of the make and takes for the Abbotsford Stampin’up Conference, that took place this week-end.  For the Friday night, I was given the “Christmas Bauble” stamp set to use and I was asked to use the Blendabilities markers. Well, that was great because that stamp image  is perfect to color with the Blendabilities!!!

For the Friday Make and Takes, demonstrators made a Shaker Card, a gift Card holder, a mini card and a Gift box.

Make and Take Friday2

Here’s the Shaker Card, which features the Christmas Bauble stamp. The bauble was colored with Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Crumb Cake blendabilities markers. I used the new Confetti Stars punch to cut the tiny little stars that I put in the center of the ornament to make the shaker frame. The background is embossed with the Lucky Stars embossing folder.

A good news I can finally share!

Back in September, I was contacted by Stampin’up Canada to be one of the 4 designers for the Canadian Fall Conferences. I was really honored to be chosen to design the Make and Take projects for the Montreal and Abbotford Conferences. The 2 sets I had to use was the “Christmas Bauble” and the “Ornamental pine” sets.

The Montreal Conference was yesterday and Friday night (Oct.24-25). So the secret’s out! Here’s the Make and Take that they did on the Friday night. Come back tomorrow for the Make and Take they did on the Saturday!

Christmas Bauble projects1

I decided to go with a Silver and Night of Navy color theme. It’s a bit unconventional, but I thought it was different and elegant!

Here’s the card, featuring “Christmas Bauble” stamp, that I colored with the Smoky Slate and Night of Navy Blendabilities markers. In the center of the ornament, I glued a Silver Sequin (from Frosted Sequins) and a small rhinestone. I thought it really completed well the ornament. The Frosted Sequins also have some white beautiful snowflakes that I glued on the card. (Glue dots work best for those sequins!) Behind is a strip of the beautiful foil-embossed “All is Calm” Specialty Designer Series paper.

Here’s the box and Star Decoration topper. The box is made with a 12″ x 12″ Night of Navy card stock, stamped with stars from “Be the Star” stamp set in Silver Metallic ink. The box was made with the new “Gift Box Punch Board“. The gift box band is made from “All is Calm” specialty Designer series paper.

Gift Box

The Star ornament is a Shaker “star” that acts as a Box topper as well as a tag. (Plus, you can keep it as a Christmas decoration!) I used Smoky Slate card stock embossed with the new “Lucky Stars” embossing folder and cut with the Star Framelits. The smaller star is made with Silver foil sheet. The star opening is also cut with the Star Framelits. I used a Shaker frame filled with “Frosted Sequins” and a silver ribbon.  At the back, I added a little tag stamped with “Merry Everything” set and cut with matching “Note tag” punch. (Buy those 2 items as a bundle and save 15% on each!!!)

Star Topper Star Topper back

Lastly is the Tag to complete this set. I used the Scalloped Tag Topper punch and the Merry Everything stamp set. The “Merry Christmas is heat embossed with Silver embossing powder, on Night of Navy card stock. It’s cut using the Note Tag Punch (but I simply cut the rounded part with scissors.) I used the little star from the “Star ornament” opening on the tag and a tiny piece of All is Calm DSP.

Spider card

Halloween is just around the corner!  This week, I will share a few Halloween projects that can also be done with kids…

Today’s one of my favorite!  I used a Shaker frame to make this cute “sparkly” spider.  The spider is attached with a string of Baker’s twine so it can move around!

I draw the spider web myself with a white crayon since I don’t have the Spider web embossing folder… It would look nice though!

For the spider, first use the 1-3/4″ Circle punch to cut a circle in Rich Razzleberry.  Then, put the shaker frame around it and fill with Glass Stampin’ Glitter (the gold one is called “Champagne”).  Cut a circle the same size in the Window sheet and adhere on top.  To finish, cut another 1-3/4 circle and inside it, cut a 1-1/4 in circle in the center (to form a “ring”).  Glue over the shaker frame.  Add a 1 in circle for the head and use the Owl punch for the eyes.  I cut two little teeth in the Champagne Glimmer paper.

I used the 1″ Square punch to cut the legs. You need to recut them in an “L” shape.  At the back I attached a Baker’s Twine string with multi-purpose liquid glue and add another circle over to really make it stick. I attached the string at the back of the spider web with scotch tape.  Finish the card by adhering the Spider web (Basic Black card stock) on the Old Olive card base and adding the Happy Halloween! (on Modern Label punch).

When you shake the card, it looks like the spider is alive and bouncing around! My kids just love it!

I tried to show that you can move the spider around with this picture… I know it’s not as good as real life!!!

Stamp set: Teeny Tiny Wishes

CS and paper: Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, Basic Black, Whisper White, Champagne Glimmer paper

Ink: Basic Black, White crayon

Artisan Award Non-winning Entry, Day 2: Cupcake Shaker Card

For this card, I have to say I went a little over the top!  I wanted to do a Shaker card with a birthday cupcake and I looked for what I could use to make the little candies inside the shaker frame…  I eventually found what I would use!  The Sweet Shop Specialty DSP (from last year Occasion Mini-Catalogue) had really pretty candies! I used the Owl punch which has a circle about the size of the candy and cut out a bunch of candies.  I wanted to add some dimension so that they would move around when you shake the card, so I added Crystal Effect on each one! That was a pretty tedious process!!! After everything had dried, I was good to go! I did a step-card with 2 side-panels. I used a strip of Vellum for the greeting. I made the cherry with Crystal effect as well. It almost looked like a real one!

Here’s the card:

and a close-up of the Shaker Frame: (the candies moved inside the shaker frame!!!)

You can see the step-card and vellum a bit better on this picture:

Happy Father’s Day card

This is a card I made for Father’s Day and also to participate in “the SoShelli.com Creative Challenge” which has “Father’s Day projects” as the theme for this month. Since I didn’t have a stamp that has the greeting I wanted, I had to improvise a little bit… I used the words from “Petite Pairs” stamp set and rearrange some of them so it would say what I wanted!

I’m really happy about how this one turned out!  I wanted to do a “shaker frame” with some screws, nails and bolts inside, as it’s really a “guy” thing!!!

The hammer is from “Every Little Bit” set. I colored it with the markers and used the blender pen to add some shadow… The wood planks were stamped using the “Woodgrain” stamp with Early Espresso ink, on Crumb Cake card stock.  I sponged the edges with Early Espresso to add some dimension.

Now for the inside, suprise!!! Here’s what Dad built with some wood, screws and nails!!!

There’s 2 brand new products that I used and that’s a little “Sneak peek” for the new catalogue.  Can you spot them?  The leaves were made with a stamp from Betsy’s Blossom set. Make sure to check my blog for some more sneak peek this week!!! The “you’re the best” is also from re-arranging some words in the Petite Pairs set and the “Love you” is from a brand new set called “Itty Bitty Banner”.  This set is so cute and versatile, I’m sure you’ll see it many times in my future posts!!! I couldn’t resist using the “Bigz L die Peekaboo frames” for the window.  I used an “happy face” from the Every little Bit stamp set.

Here’s the list of supplies:

Valentine Window Shaker Frame

Do you think it’s too soon to talk about Valentine’s Day? Probably, but I wanted to participate in the December SoShelli Creative Challenge and the theme is Valentine! so here’s what I came up with!

I wanted to try to make a window shaker frame in a heart shape, but using the circle shaker frame from the Holiday mini-catalogue.  Well, I’m happy to say it worked well!!!  Here’s my card and a close-up of the “heart window shaker frame”.

I used the new Framelits die (Hearts collection) to cut the heart shape of my window.  These new dies will be available soon, in the new Occasions mini-catalogue, coming on January 4, 2012! They are absolutely great!!! These thin wafer-like dies let you see where you’re placing the design before you cut so it’s easy to use as a window or to cut a pre-stamped image. The Heart collection includes 6 different heart sizes.

To make the heart window frame, I used half a circle frame and shape it to form half the heart.  Then, repeat for the other side.  (You have to cut it in half or you won’t be able to shape it correctly.) I traced the heart shape with a pencil to know where to put the foam frame.  A little tip is to make sure you trace your heart a bit bigger so when you adhere the frame, you actually hide your pencil mark. (See picture below) I stamped “Key to my heart” from the stamp set “You’re a gem”(#122268) with versamark and embossed it in gold.  Make sure you do this before putting your window frame!!!  Then I added the champagne glass glitter (before removing the paper backing).  Peel off the paper backing and adhere the window sheet cut in the heart shape. Adhere the Real Red heart shape on top.

The two little keys were also stamped in versamark and embossed in gold.  They are from a set that you can get for free during the Sale-a-bration, which is coming soon on January 24! I used a glue dot to adhere them to the window sheet.

I used the First Edition Specialty paper (#121878) in the background and the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder on Basic Black cardstock.  The 4EVER (also from the “You’re a gem” stamp set) is also embossed with gold on a piece of torn Very Vanilla cardstock.  I sponged it with Crumb Cake ink to age it.  I used a Real red satin ribbon and pleated it to add some dimension.  Then I sewed in place.  In the background, I stamped “love” (from “You’re a gem” stamp set) and “Be Mine” from Outlined Occasions (SAB #126014) coming soon!!!

Snow shaker frame card

I really like “shaker frame” cards so here’s another one!

I used the snowflake stamp from the Jolly Bingo Bit (#120857) stamp set.  The “Joyeux Noel” stamp is from a retired set.  The designer paper from the “Letters to Santa” DSP really helps to make the card interesting and the Scallop dots ribbon really adds a nice finishing touch.
