Technique Thursday: Beautifully Baroque Wedding Card

Welcome back to Technique Thursday (actually on Friday since I didn’t get a chance to post this yesterday!)  Today I will show you how you can use the brayer and an embossing folder to create a unique background.

But first, here’s my card!

Beautifully Baroque (Christine et Marc)

Do you see how the background is embossed and colored? That’s very easy to do when you know how to do it!

First step is to ink your brayer (I used Pool Party on this card). Then roll the brayer on the inside of your embossing folder (top part, where the writing and Stampin’up logo are), in order to ink the top part. Place your White card stock inside your embossing folder and run through the Big Shot. The ink on the embossing folder will transfer on your paper as it is embossed! Really cool! For this card, I used the “Beautifully Baroque” embossing folder.

For the rest of the card, I used the Beautifully Baroque stamp with Coastal Cabana ink. I added some Daffodil Delight ink with the marker on the outer edge and with a sponge dauber (in the inside). I used the Oval Framelits to cut the 2 ovals.

The Beautifully Baroque stamp and embossing folder can be bought together as a bundle for $23.75. Only available until June 2nd! Click here to order today!

The inside of the card was also pretty “special!” I used the Card Base Pop ‘n Cuts and the Label Pop ‘n Cuts die to make this 3D pop-up card! The “pop-up” is the same shape of the Deco Label Framelits, so that’s what I used to cut a beautiful piece of “Eastern Elegance” designer series paper. (That paper matches perfectly with the Beautifully Baroque stamp!)

The Card base Pop ‘n Cuts and inserts are on sale right now 25%! Click here to order yours! These items will also be discontinued in a few days only.

I would like to show you 2 projects I’ve made with my new favorite DSP: Modern Medley. These designer papers are all designs in Black and Very Vanilla. They are really “classic” looking and great for a wedding card, masculine card or Scrapbooking.

The first project is a Wedding Card that I made with the new Framelits Deco Label and the Modern Medley DSP. I used the stamp from Everything Eleanor and the greeting from Petite Pairs. The roses were made with a scallop circle cut in a spiral and rolled up. (also from Modern Medley DSP.)

CS and paper: Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Modern Medley DSP
Ink: Crumb Cake, Basic Black
Tools: Big Shot, Deco Labels Framelits, Scallop Circle punch, Little Leaves Sizzlit die,

The second project is 2, 12″ x 12″ Scrapbook pages. I designed those with a “Family” theme in mind. These pages would be perfect for nice family pictures or even wedding pictures. I used the new stamp set “Happy Day”, which has great greetings and words and a nice fancy “flower”. I also added some clay roses and I “aged” them with Crumb Cake Marker and blender pen.

Thanksgiving Wedding

Happy Thanksgiving!!!   I went for a walk this afternoon and the trees were gorgeous! I felt so thankful to live here, in this beautiful country!

We went to a wedding this weekend and the hall was beautifully decorated with Fall leaves.  I wanted to make a card that would reflect their “Fall theme”, so this is the card I made for them:

Close-up:

I used the Owl Builder punch to make the “groom and bride”, adding a wedding dress and a tux!  I knew the wedding color was orange so I wanted to incorporate this color into my card as much as possible.  I made some orange quilled roses for the bride and some fringed quilled flowers (on the banner)!

The leaves were made with the Bird Builder punch in Crumb Cake, Real Red, Cherry Cobbler and Pumpkin Pie card stock.   I sponged them with Soft Suede to add some dimension.  To make the big orange flower I used the Boho Blossom punch.  I separated the layers of card stock and sprayed with a mixture of rubbing alcohol and shimmer paint. Then I stacked the layers and crumbled them.  I used a mini silver brad to attach the flowers together and I let it dry.

The banner is from a retired stamp set called “Take it to Heart” (from last year Occasion nimi-catalogue) and I used a greeting from “Voeux Mignons”.

Material used:

Card stock:  Crumb Cake, Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie, Very Vanilla, Whisper White, Basic Black, Soft Suede, Chocolate Chip, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Bashful Blue

Ink: Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Pumpkin Pie. Basic Black marker, Frost White shimmer paint.

Stamp set: Voeux Mignons, Take it to Heart.

Tools and punches: Owl Builder, Bird Builder, Boho Blossom, Scallop Oval (Owl wings), 1-3/4″ Scallop Circle (owl dress); Big Shot, Top Note Bigz die; Perfect Polka Dots, Fancy Fan and Vintage Wallpaper embossing folders. Quilling tool

Accessories: mini-silver brad, basic pearls

Happy 11th Anniversary!

I had a great week-end! I hope it was the same for you too!  I celebrated my 11th anniversary with my dearest husband!  I love him so much!!!  This is the card I made for him.  I have to tell you that it was inspired by a card I saw on Stampin’Connection (the website for all Stampin’up demonstrators) from Michelle Zindorf.  She is the “Brayer Queen”!!! I modified her version to make an anniversary card instead.  You can see her card if you click here.

For the background, I used the brayer to make the sunset.  I used Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade and Real Red. (The picture doesn’t really do justice to the colors, especially the green looks nothing like green! …)  If you want to learn how to make these beautiful sunsets with the brayer, make sure to register for my Brayer Technique Class on September 11!  Just email me at julie_olivier@hotmail.com to register!  For the birds, I used the Bird Builder punch in Basic Black card stock.  The little branches are also from the same punch.  That’s a great punch to have!!! For the larger branch, I just cut it with scissors.

Stamp set: Voeux Mignons

CS and paper: Glossy White paper, Basic Black, Daffodil Delight

Ink: Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade and Real Red, Basic Black

Punch: Bird Builder punch

Artisan Award Non-winning Entry, Day 3: Happy I do day Money Holder

Today’s card is a Wedding card. It’s also a money holder… I used Shimmer paint (Frost white) to stamp the background with Baroque Motifs stamp set on Vellum card stock.  The middle part is cut with the Label collection Framelit and embossed with the Designer Frames folder.  The “border” was sponged with Shimmer paint.  The “Happy I do day” was heat embossed with Pewter embossing powder.  Shimmer paint was also sponged on top of the quilled flowers and leaves.
