Earth Day

Happy Earth Day everyone!!!  I wanted to create something special for Earth Day.  The thought in my mind was GO GREEN!!! That’s also this month’s SoShelli challenge.  So why not combine both?  I challenged myself to make a card that would scream GREEN but also that would have a  hidden message about being eco-friendly!!!  So I pulled my green paper scrap pieces (that I keep “just in case” I would need a small piece!) and I decided I would only use those pieces to make my card.

This is what I started with:

I also decided to reuse the packaging of the snail refill so that it’s truly a “recycled card”!

First step, I created a green background using Certainly Celery, Pear Pizzazz, Lucky Limeade, Old Olive, Wild Wasabi and Garden Green card stock pieces.  I teared each one to make like a “field background”.  I stamped the bonsai tree with StazOn ink on the snail packaging and cut it around… Here how it looked like:

Than I decided to reuse the scrap I just made for the background.  I glued all the little pieces I had left on Natural white card stock and than embossed it with Square Lattice embossing folder.  I finished my card by adding a frame around the bonsai and a nice saying that I love and that is very appropriate for Earth Day: He who plants a tree, plants a hope, by Lucy Larcom.

Here the finished card, I hope it inspires you:

Stamp set: Plant Hope (#117042)

I guess I was inspired because I decided to make another one!  I liked how my background turned out, but I wanted to make it bigger.  I had plenty of scrap paper left so that was not a problem!!! Here’s my second card that says “Happy Earth Day!” (or Bon Jour de la Terre!)
