Sheltering Tree Card

I would like to share with you the card I made for my husband for Valentine’s Day. I used a new set called “Sheltering tree”. This set is so beautiful! It is available in French and English.  What is nice about this set is that it can be used for any season! The sayings are also beautiful… It’s not a traditional “Valentine’s Day” set, so you can get a lot more use of this set, all year long!

Here’s the English set: Sheltering Tree

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Love is in the air today! Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you have someone you love to spend it with!  Today, I would like to share a card we made at my last monthly card (for the Valentine’s Day theme). This card was based on another card I made before that was quite ambitious for a monthly card class, so I changed it a bit… (You can see the other one here.)

Language of Love (2)

For this card, I combined Real Red, Basic Black and Gold, as the color scheme. I used the “Language of Love” stamp set and the banner from “Banner Blast” (a free Sale-a-bration set!). The big heart is cut with the Heart framelits out of Real Red Core’dinations card stock and embossed with the Chevron embossing folder. I then sanded the card stock to see the lighter color “appear”! The Whisper White background is embossed with the Decorative Dots embossing folder, also a free item from the Sale-a-bration. The little hearts were cut with the Owl builder punch out of Gold glimmer paper.

Stamp set: Language of Love, Banner Blast.

CS and paper: Real Red, Basic Black, Whisper White, Gold glimmer paper, Real Red Core’dinations card stock

Ink: Baked Brown Sugar, Real Red,

Tools: Big Shot, Hearts Collection framelits, Decorative Dots embossing folder, Chevron embossing folder, Banner punch, Owl builder punch

Pop-up card for Valentine’s Day

This is a perfect craft for children. It’s a fun pop-up card that you can easily do with the Big Shot and Framelits or simply cut with scissors.

Valentine’s Day Treat Box

For you today, I have a Valentine’s Day Treat box that I made with the “Fancy Favor” Bigz XL die and Real Red Core’dinations card stock. On the front, I used the “Language of Love” stamp set (from the Occasion mini-catalogue p.25) to decorate. I stamped 4 row of hearts in Real Red ink and I offset each row so that different heart designs are superposed.  I sponged Pink Pirouette ink around the edges. I also used the new “Spiral Flower” die (p.32 of the Occasion mini-catalogue) to make a nice rose that I glued on the box with the leaves made from the “Little Leaves” Sizzlits die. I used to make these roses and cut my paper by hand, but now with this new Spiral Flower die, it’s so much easier to make the perfect rose!!!

Valentine Treat box

I used the treat bag from the “Twisty Treat” kit, which is a Sale-a-bration item that you can get FREE with a $60 purchase. These clear cello bags are printed with White polka dots and are the perfect bag to put any little treats!

To make the rose, you start with this paper cut from the Spiral Flower die:

I used my thumb fingernail to break the card stock fiber a little. This will help for the next step.

If you have a quilling tool, this really helps! But if you don’t, you can use a skewer or your piercing tool to help you start rolling the flower. Start from the smaller end and roll it on itself:

Keep rolling all the way to the end:

When you get to the end, add glue on the last “petal” (where my finger is pointing):

The rose is finished! Let it dry in place:

Valentine’s Day Craft for kids: Hearts Mobile

This week is all about Valentine’s Day! For today I have an easy craft for youth and old! By using the Big Shot and Heart Collection framelits, this craft is quite simple to make. If you don’t have a Big Shot, your best bet would be to fold your heart in half and cut them by hand. (But a Big Shot is really worth it!!! So let me know if you decide to get one!!! I can help you with that! )

To make this Hearts mobile, I cut 2 hearts of the same size, so the Baker’s twine is like “in a  sandwich” between the two layers of paper. I taped the twine with scotch tape to start, at the top and bottom of the biggest heart, just to maintain the twine in place while I glue my hearts on top of each other.

What is cool is that each heart can rotate individually around. It’s quite nice if you hang it from the ceiling!

“You Make me Happy ” Tag Card

Today’s card was made with “Valentine’s Day” in mind, but I think it’s a card that you could also give at any moment during the year to someone very special in your life.

I used the Happy Watercolor stamp set ,which I have to admit, is probably my favorite in the new Occasion mini-catalogue! I also used the new Scalloped Tag Topper punch to create the tag on the card. (See this post where I also used it on another card.) After making the tag, I put some Watercolor Wonder Washi tape on it and than I used the Hearts a Flutter Collection Framelits to cut the small heart out.

Happy Watercolor tag heart

For the background, I first stamped the image that look like Watercolor splatters from Happy Watercolor set in Crumb Cake. Then I stamped the little dots in Gold Metallic ink as well as the saying “You make me happy”. I embossed the card stock with the Decorative Dots embossing folder and sponged it with Crumb Cake around the edges.

Stamp set: Happy Watercolor, Express Yourself

CS and paper: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Real Red, Gold Glimmer paper

Ink: Gold Metallic Encore ink, Crumb Cake, Real Red

Tools: Big Shot, Decorative Dots embossing folder, Scalloped Tag Topper punch, Hearts a Flutter Collection Framelits, small Heart punch,

Accessories: Very Vanilla Seam binding ribbon, Gold Baker’s twine, Watercolor Wonder Washi Tape

Romantic Valentine AW08 Sketch Challenge

I made this card based on a Sketch for the “Around the World Challenge AW08”. If you like my card, you can click on this link and go vote for it!!!

I always like to use Black, Red and Gold to make a romantic Valentine’s Day card.  These colors are so rich together, it’s always a winning combination!

Language of Love

I used the new Stamp set from the Occasions mini-catalogue called “Language of Love” to stamp the hearts in the center. One was embossed with gold embossing powder and the second with Black embossing powder. I then used Cherry Cobbler ink and sponge it to on the second heart to make it really stand out!  I also used the Banner Blast stamp set (that you can get for free as one of the Sale-a-Bration set, starting January 28) and the “Hearts a Flutter” stamp set for the smaller pennant at the bottom, also embossed with gold embossing powder.

Do you like the new Gold Sequin? You can buy it as a trim to add some “bling” to your projects!  It’s on p.23 of the mini-catalogue. (Item #132983). You get 10 yards for $6.50.  You can also take the sequin off the trim and glue them separately like I did on this card. Really cool new accessory!
