“Celebrate” Banner

Do you like banners?  They are really popular right now!  I made a banner using the Build a Banner Simply Created Kit and it was so easy! The pennants are already made for you, with eyelets.  The kit comes with stencils that you can use either to spray your pennants or you can used a sponge dauber to color them.  The spray gives you a lighter color and the sponging, a more vibrant color. For this banner, I sponged the pennants with Raspberry Ripple, Crisp Cantaloup, Summer Starfruit, Gumball Green and Island Indigo.

I made pinwheel with the beautiful Designer Series paper called “Birthday Basics”. I used the Blossom and Pansy punches to make some flowers to decorate my banner.

Artisan Award Entry #5: Pop-up Pinwheel card

Welcome to Day 5!  Today’s card was probably the most complicated of the five cards I made for the Artisan Award Contest.  It’s a pop-up card or a 2-steps card.  I just made my own template (basically trial and error).  I wanted that the pinwheels stand-up when you open the card and that was a real challenge!  Some were falling down, so I ended up putting little paper brackets at the back so they couldn’t fall.  I wished I had taken some pictures from the side so you could see better how it’s made, but I guess I didn’t think about it… Since I don’t have the card anymore, it’s now too late. The challenge was that nothing sitck out the card when it’s closed.  (Seem kind of obvious, but when you fold the card, everything shift up, so it’s trickier than you think!)

I used the Sizzlit Pinwheel die (from last year mini-catalogue) and make 6 of them.  I used different buttons and brads to attach them in the center.   The super colorful Designer Paper ” Sunshine & Sprinkles” (now retired) inspired me this card.

I also used Baja Breeze for the background.  The little butterflies are from the “Make a cake” stamp set.

Now, look at the second card I made and try to spot the diffences!!!

pinwheel and kisses

Can you see what I did to transform the greeting? I changed “wishes” to “kisses”!!! Are you wondering how I did that? I simply used the marker to color the stamp and I omitted to color the “w” and “h”. I stamped it and then I added the “k” and “s” by and using the marker fine point!  Voilà!  Do you like it???  The small hearts are from a stamp in a new set “Hearts a flutter”. There’s a heart made of small hearts, but I just colored a few little hearts on it with the marker to achieve the look I wanted.
