One of the item that I’m so sad to see going is the Owl punch! That’s the first punch I ever bought! I used it so much over the years! This owl is so cute! But what I like the most about this punch is the multiple uses that you can do with it! For example, making a tulip with the Owl punch is so easy! To see how to make this tulip, visit an older post : https://madewithpaper.wordpress.com/2011/09/13/owl-punch-week-make-a-tulip/

See all the cards made with the Owl punch here: https://madewithpaper.wordpress.com/category/card-samples/owl-punch-examples/

I’ve copied myself to make this card!!! Another set that have been around for a long time that is also retiring is the Papillon Potpourri stamp set and matching punch (Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly). I’ve also used it on this card (and so many others! You can see them here).

Special Reason-007

Material:
Stamp set: Papillon Potpourri (retiring), Four You (retired)
Paper and CS: Real Red, Very Vanilla, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Garden Green
Ink: Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Calypso Coral
Tools: Owl punch (retiring), Big Shot, Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits (retiring), Bitty Butterfly punch (retiring), Elegant Dots embossing folder (retiring), Sponge daubers, scissors, Dimensionals.

**Tips and Tricks:**

* To make the tulip, use the Owl punch. See instructions here.
* Use the sponge dauber to add ink to the tulip to add a dept effect. I used Cherry Cobbler over Calypso Coral card stock.
* Use the Bitty Butterfly punch to cut perfectly the little butterfly from Papillon Potpourri.
* I used the Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits to cut the greeting “banner”. I also used the Calypso Coral ink over the edges to add more definition.

Rose Garden Thinlits Dies: Fabulous!!!

The new Occasions “Handmade from the Heart” catalogue has some real treasures!!! One of my favorites new Framelits is the Rose Garden Thinlits, which match the Rose Wonder stamp set. (see p.18)

I used the smaller rose included to make this beautiful card with a classic look! The background Designer paper is from the Timeless Elegance Designer Series Paper (#138444). I used Basic Black and Very Vanilla as the 2 main colors for these cards. The card base background was embossed with the Elegant Dots embossing folder.

You’ve Got This in Mint Macaron

“Mint Macaron” is one of the new 2015-2017 In-Colors. I really like this light green, combined with Night of Navy! I used it in the background for this card, with the new stamp set “You’ve Got This“. One of the stamp from this set is kind of a “linen” look, perfect for a background! It really adds texture to your card! I also used the new Elegant Dots embossing folder to make a ribbon like in the background.  This is a great way to create your own ribbon and to add dimension to your card!

The “Rolling Marbles Technique” creates a “funky” background!

I have a really cool technique for you today!  I hope you’ll give it a try! I used marbles (the kind we used to have when we were young!) to create this cool background. (I have the instructions for you below.) This is perfect to try with children too, as it’s very easy and not too messy!

I’ve used a few new products from the 2015-2016 Catalogue on this card. First, you might notice the Wood word “Thanks”. This is from the new Expressions Natural Elements embellishments. It really adds an extra something to your card or project!

Also, I used the new “Elegant Dots” embossing folder on the Crush Curry chevron banner. I used the stamp from “You’ve Got this” stamp set to add some texture on my Melon Mambo circle at the back.

Rolling Marbles Julie Olivier

Directions:

  1. Take an empty plastic box (like a plastic stamp case). Add a few drops of ink (only one color) at the bottom.

  2. Add 2-4 marbles and roll in the ink to cover your marbles.

  3. Take your white card stock and add 2 small strips of adhesive. Stick on the cover of the box. (Don’t put too much adhesive as you need to remove it!)

  4. Turn the box over and have your marbles roll all over the card stock.

  5. Remove your card stock. Repeat the same steps with a different color.

Note: It’s better to do one color at a time, otherwise they will mix up together and will become “one” undefined color.
