One of the item that I’m so sad to see going is the Owl punch! That’s the first punch I ever bought! I used it so much over the years! This owl is so cute! But what I like the most about this punch is the multiple uses that you can do with it! For example, making a tulip with the Owl punch is so easy! To see how to make this tulip, visit an older post : https://madewithpaper.wordpress.com/2011/09/13/owl-punch-week-make-a-tulip/

See all the cards made with the Owl punch here: https://madewithpaper.wordpress.com/category/card-samples/owl-punch-examples/

I’ve copied myself to make this card!!! Another set that have been around for a long time that is also retiring is the Papillon Potpourri stamp set and matching punch (Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly). I’ve also used it on this card (and so many others! You can see them here).

Special Reason-007

Material:
Stamp set: Papillon Potpourri (retiring), Four You (retired)
Paper and CS: Real Red, Very Vanilla, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Garden Green
Ink: Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Calypso Coral
Tools: Owl punch (retiring), Big Shot, Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits (retiring), Bitty Butterfly punch (retiring), Elegant Dots embossing folder (retiring), Sponge daubers, scissors, Dimensionals.

**Tips and Tricks:**

* To make the tulip, use the Owl punch. See instructions here.
* Use the sponge dauber to add ink to the tulip to add a dept effect. I used Cherry Cobbler over Calypso Coral card stock.
* Use the Bitty Butterfly punch to cut perfectly the little butterfly from Papillon Potpourri.
* I used the Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits to cut the greeting “banner”. I also used the Calypso Coral ink over the edges to add more definition.

Last Day for Free Shipping and Swallowtail Card

My card today is made with the beautiful stamp “Swallowtail”. That’s a huge stamp but it’s so nice and elegant!!!  I heat embossed the butterfly with White embossing powder and then I used sponge daubers and Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloup, Crush Curry and Daffodil Delight ink to color it. I used Natural White card stock in the background (I really like to look of that card stock!) stamped with little butterflies from “Papillon Popourri” stamp set with Pink Pirouette ink. It’s really subtle and that’s the look I was going for.  The small butterfly was stamped with White ink on Vellum and then colored at the back with markers. By using this technique, the colors appear less “bright”. I used the matching punch “Bitty Butterfly” to cut it.  It is raised with a dimensional.

Only one week left before Sale-a-bration starts!!!

Only one week left before Sale-a-bration starts!!! Sale-a-bration is the best time of the year because so much free products are given away!!! All week, I will post card samples that I made with the Sale-a-bration stamp sets, that you can get for free for every $60 you spend!!!

This card was made using the Bloomin’ Marvelous stamp set.  It’s one of my favorite set! I love hummingbirds and flowers (maybe you already know that by checking my latest Paper Art frames!) so I guess it’s no surprise that I like that one!!! I also like that it comes with 4 images and 4 greetings. It makes it a very versatile set!

I used the 1″ Square punch and the Postage Stamp punch to make the postage stamps for this card.  I first stamped the image on Whisper White card stock and cut it with the 1″square punch. Then, I sponged the each side with Pool Party ink, so you would see the side borders when put over the Postage Stamp punch.  I wanted the butterfly to come out of the stamp like it’s flying away and I thought that it would be perfect with the saying “Miracles happen”… I used the new Bitty Butterfly punch (in the mini-occasion catalogue on p.13) to cut the butterfly. Much faster than cutting it by hands!!! I love that it also coordinates with the “Papillon Potpourri” stamp set!

The ribbon is also from the Sale-a-bration free products. It comes as a bundle that includes 3 ribbon spools and 36 buttons, also in 3 colors!
