Bird Punch: Vintage

I recently bought the Bird Builder punch and I was excited to start creating cards with it!!! So for my last Monthly Card Class (last Friday), I wanted to use it to make at least one card.  For that card, I used 2 embossing folders: the Vintage Wallpaper Folder and the Designer Frames Folder and a technique called Selective Embossing.  Here’s how to do it: Run your card stock with the Vintage Wall paper folder first, as usual.  Then, you want to cut the shape of the designer frame (an oval here) in thick card stock, at least 2, and glue them together. Position it on top of the Designer Frame Folder like on the picture:

To run it through the Big Shot, you will have to adjust the thickness, because with the added card stock added, it is now too thick.  So for mine, I used the following “sandwich”:

cutting platform (closed), embossing folder with your card stock, and only one cutting plate on top.

The embossing will only be on the “oval shape” that you cut and won’t disturb the rest of the “Vintage Wallpaper”.

I highlighted the embossing by sponging Early Espresso  on top.  I used Baker’s Twine (White/Early Espresso) and a Vintage brad to finalize the card.

Stamp set: Voeux Mignons

CS and paper: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Natural White

Ink: Early Espresso

Punches: Bird Builder, Extra-Large Oval, Window word

Tools: Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper Folder and the Designer Frames Folder

Accessories: Vintage brad, Baker’s Twine

  1. Julie – thanks for the tip on how to do this. Can’t wait to give it a try. Love your card. I’ve pinned it and see many are also pinning. Perfect!
